Box Storage FAQs
Everything you need to know about our box storage service.
At Simply BoxIt our box storage gives you flexibility to just store a few boxes or single items. If you just need to get a few boxes out of the way for a while or you don’t need a full storage unit space then box storage is for you!
You book in the same way, choose how many boxes or items you want to store then we arrange to collect and store on a date to suit you. We can store your boxes long or short term and on return you only pay £8.95 per box/item for local re-delivery in Manchester.
Simply BoxIt provides a quick and easy way to remove and store boxes and small items (we do store larger items too!)
Simply select how many boxes you need to store, how long you need to store for and build your quote from there.
You can pay monthly or up front for the total time you need to store for. The longer you prepay for the cheaper your rate per item.
We will deliver your boxes and any packaging for you to pack and box up for items. You do also have the choice to use your own boxes.
Once packed simply seal and label your boxes (so you know what’s in each box) and get them ready for collection.
We will then collect your boxes on your chosen date and you will be given an AM or PM collection window. Just get your items down to the ground floor and we will do the rest.
Your items will be taken away and stored at our secure storage facility in Manchester equipped with CCTV and a 24 hour security guard on site.
When you need your items back – simply give us a call and we can book your return. You will need to confirm your return address (again we will deliver to the ground floor) and chosen return date and your delivery charges will be calculated. Standard charges are £8.95 per box or item (locally to Manchester) You don’t have to get all your boxes back at once, you can leave some things in storage and just get a few bits back perhaps for Summer or Christmas when you need them.

Simply BoxIt is a cheap, easy and hassle free way to store your items. We come to you so you don’t ever need to attend a self storage facility. We can deliver boxes for you to pack in your own time and then we collect and store for as long as you need.
It’s so convenient you don’t even need to leave home to use us!
You choose the date and pick an AM or PM slot for your delivery or collection. Our driver will then be able to call with an ETA on the day of your service so it’s really important you provide the correct contact details.
Deliveries/Collections will be from 8.30am up until 4.00pm.
Yes – to keep things simple we ask that you get your boxes or single items to the ground floor for collection and we will re-deliver back to the ground floor.
If you are struggling with your items, they are too big or you can’t get them to ground floor. Please let us know when you book and we can do a “door to door” service for an added charge.
Charges will depend on the access, floor number, lift or stairs access etc.
We will always call you the day before we are due to collect / deliver plus the driver will call when they are half an hour away, so we ask that you keep you phone on and are available during the delivery time slots, which is usually 9am – 4pm.
If the driver has to wait for more than 20 minutes there will be a waiting charge added of £25. The driver will not wait longer than 30 minutes.
If we cannot contact you and it ends up being a failed delivery or collection there will be a cancellation charge of £50.
Our payment process is simple. You can pay monthly on a rolling contract for your storage or you can pay up front for the whole period you want to store for. Be it 2 months, 4 months, 9 months or more!
You choose the best option for you.
If you are unsure how many months you will need to store for we recommend going on our month by month rolling contract.
We do not refund part months.
We will store most things within reason. For insurance and safety reasons we cannot store vehicles, explosives, flammables, corrosives, food, perishables, livestock, weapons, illegal substances, money, gold, silver, precious metals or stones, engines, trailers, hovercraft.

Yes you can! We offer a range of pre-selected items that you may want to store when you build your quote, such as chests of drawers, guitars, lamps, buggies and more. If the item you want to store isn’t on the list then just give us a call to see if we can help!
You will be charged according to the items size and if it’s larger than anticipated on collection your storage costs may increase.
In short, yes you can but if you do then we cannot cover your goods under our StoreProtect enhanced liability, we cannot guarantee that your boxes will be safe and secure! We do advise using our boxes as they are durable, secure and double walled – and we deliver them to your door so why not?!
If you have boxes already then we can collect them but if they are deemed to be unsuitable or not safe to carry your items may need to be re-packed and you will be charged for this service.
Yes it’s easy and we deliver them to your door. On booking you will be asked if you require any of our boxes. Just choose how many you need. Then choose your delivery date for your boxes (and time slot if required) and we will deliver your empty boxes for you to pack up. You can also order other packing materials if you need them. There is a charge for boxes and delivery.
The boxes that we provide are 18 inches square (wide and long) and 20 inches tall.
No problem. Just add a few extra boxes to your order and if you have empty boxes when we collect your items we will collect the unused boxes and you will only be charged for the boxes or larger items that you do store.
Label your boxes however you like – it’s important you know what’s in them.
e.g. BOX 1 – Records, DVDs and Vinyls. BOX 2 – Summer Clothes and Shoes BOX 3 – University Files and Books
You must also include your name and unique customer number on each box to make it easy for our drivers.
The weight limit on boxes is 25kg. If you can’t lift it – chances are our guys won’t be able to either!
You also don’t want a box too heavy where the bottom will collapse. Be sensible when packing your items.
The only reasons we would need to open your box are if we:
Conditions of Agreement restrict liability to negligence only up to a maximum of £100 and require You to arrange insurance cover for the Maximum Replacement Value of Your Property.
As an alternative to you arranging your own insurance, SimplyBoxIt can accept an enhanced liability for Loss or Damage which may occur during storage.
This is “StoreProtect” and means an agreement to accept an enhanced liability for Loss or Damage to Your Property as described in this Addendum. “StoreProtect Charges” means the additional charges set out in the Self Storage Agreement for StoreProtect.
We offer StoreProtect where your items are covered from £100 total cover up to £2000 total cover. If you need a higher value of cover please contact us.

Items stored in your own boxes cannot be covered. You must use our boxes.
StoreProtect is charged per month the same way as storage.
StoreProtect works by you adding the level of cover that best suits your items when you book.
If you have high value items – make sure you select the right level of cover. i.e. up to £1000 total cover, up to £500 total cover or whatever you need.
If something has a value of £1000 but you have only declared a maximum value of £50 then that’s all our liability will be extended to in any event that the item become damaged while in storage with us
No, when you add StoreProtect the declared value is applied to the total of all boxes that you store with us. We don’t offer enhanced liability for different boxes of different amounts but one total across all boxes stored.
Simply give us a call and let us know when you need your items to be returned! We can deliver on a date of your choosing – just make sure you supply the full address, your contact details or the details of the person who will be there to receive the delivery and we will do the rest!
There is always a charge to have your boxes returned to you and the cost depends on the area we are delivering back to.
We are based in Manchester but we can complete deliveries all over the country if required.
We normally change £5.00 per item to return within 5 miles of M12 5AQ.
Returns are made between 9am and 4pm.
Please note there is a minimum charge of £40.00 for the return of items, this is based on local Manchester re-deliveries only.
